The Role of Leadership
in Planning and Supply Chain Management
Regardless
of their job function or organizational level, the work of almost every planning
and supply chain professional involves leading and managing teams, individuals,
projects, and relationships. These key business resources spend a significant
amount of their time, if not most of it, on these kinds of tasks. Despite this,
many find it easier to find fault in others than in themselves when bad
leadership spoils a good plan. This can be problematic because bad leadership
is expensive.
Our team’s leadership affects several critical areas, mission clarity, business
flexibility, execution performance standards, sense of responsibility to the
business goals, and the level of commitment to a common purpose. Leadership is
not about what leaders do, but the relationship between leaders and audiences.
