PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The Space Coast Chapter includes all of Brevard County as well as members and guests from the northern portion of Indian River County.

Our chapter’s goal this year is to increase membership. Our Professional Development Meetings (PDM) are always interesting and successful with great guest speakers. The Chapter’s first PDM of 2018 was with Commissioner Wayne Justice from the Port Canaveral Authority in January. He shared many facets of the Port’s logistics and operations. In our February PDM, we were invited on a tour of Larsen Motorsports Plant provided by the owner Elaine Larsen. In April, the chapter’s final PDM for the year was held at Hell & Blazes Brewing, where a plant tour was conducted. Discussions were held on their processes and how lean six sigma activities improved these processes.

The flagship conference for 2018, is in Chicago from September 30th through October 2nd and will be APICS 61st anniversary. Other supply chain operations and logistics management professionals will be in attendance. One of the benefits in attending, is learning practices of leaders in the supply chain industry. However, if you need another reason to attend, think of the networking potential and invaluable contacts you will make. This opportunity also earns you points toward certification maintenance. Keynote speakers are going to be Pradipa Karbhari from Microsoft; Ada Antones from Monsanto. Both will certainly add value to the conference with their messages. If you decide to attend and if you don’t mind, share some pictures with the chapter.

I would like to take thank the other members of the board for the hours they volunteer and support the Space Coast chapter. Also, this chapter wouldn’t be where it is today without its members. Thank you for your membership.
